Passion = Purpose

Hey loves! I hope you have been having a great week. Mine has been busy and productive. I am about to embark on a challenge that makes me a little uncomfortable, but GOD usually leads us to do things that are beyond are comfort zone. When you are pursuing your purpose remember to go out on a limb because that's where the ripe fruit is. I will share with you my experience of getting out of the boat and walking on water in the next post. Stay tuned:-)

Your purpose in life is often directly connected to your passion. Purpose is something we should walk in, but what usually happens is we let people talk us out of our dreams and settle for the path of least resistance because other people can't see the vision. Or we shortchange ourselves by staying where we are comfortable. Always remember that everything great in this world started with a vision and your gifts will make room for you.

This is the smile of a woman walking in her purpose and being joyful despite the hurtful actions of others.

To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven: Ecclesiastes 3:1

Your purpose is calling

Step to it

Smile and embrace it

 Own it

I see you

Look through a lens of positivity. Go and get everything that is in your vision. Go get it!

Black Butterfly

Hello loves! I hope your new year is off to a fabulous start! I have been so busy that I didn't have a chance to post these photos from December when I took my son out for Christmas brunch. It rarely gets cold enough in Los Angeles to wear winter attire, but when I get the chance, I love to wear gloves, boots and scarves.  Although I really love this time of year, I can already feel spring in the air and the recent wave of 80 degree weather is a hint that it might be time to start pulling out those sundresses I have packed away:-)

If you are wondering about the title of this post, "Black Butterfly" is an old song I have always loved by Deniece Williams.

I am a person that loves bold color, but black on black is always timeless and classic. Do you agree?

I am a woman that loves a little glamour. How about you? I feel like there is something so lady like and sophisticated about gloves.

The right accessories are always the perfect cherry on top to a great look

Another gratuitous shot of my boots, LOL

Do you have any plans for the new year?  Anybody else have holiday hips? I get them every year:-)

Have an amazing week!

Reflections...

It has been three months since my last blog post. A lot can happen in three months. Life is an unpredictable thing. Just as sure as summer is fall. Birds fly south. The young become the old. Seasons change. I had been feeling unmotivated and took a much needed blog vacation and then something traumatic and devastating happened.

I lost my father.

My father was always the one who spoke life affirming words to me. As a little girl, my father was full of love and affection and as an adult that tradition continued with him still calling me by my childhood pet name. Their is something special about the bond between a daughter and her father that cannot be explained in words. Fathers are protectors. When I went through a cataclysmic divorce a few years ago, it was my father that assured me that the sun would shine again and that he would be there to thoroughly inspect the next man to make sure he was suitable for his daughter. It saddens me that my father is gone and he will not be here to see his daughter get it right the next time.

Saying goodbye to the first man I loved was hard and attending his funeral and laying him to rest was devastating. I have some of my dads clothes and I am looking forward to having them tailored to fit me and incorporating them into my wardrobe. I smile when I think of the colorful language my dad used when he talked. He could make a sailor blush:-)

It very rarely gets cold enough in Cali to wear a coat, but I recently got some wear out of my orange pea coat.

I am constantly surprised by the irony in life. The folks I thought would be there for me weren't and the ones I least expected were the ones that were front and center. Life is funny like that. I am really blessed to have so many good people in my life.
I feel grateful to those who sent cards and those who insisted on taking me out to get my mind off of things and refused to let me stay depressed. And thank you to you my blog readers for the numerous emails of concern because I hadn't posted anything in 3 months. Thank you so much for your concern. Now I am in a better place to get back to my regular blogging schedule and thank you all for taking the time to stop by and share in my world.

Winter Snapshots

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I ate way too much turkey, dressing, pie and everything else, but sometimes it is ok to eat a little too much of the things you enjoy. as long as you don't do it every day. Right? Now I am preparing for Christmas and usually this is the time of year when I don't post on my blog as much because I am usually busy doing lots of holiday stuff with my little guy:-)

I really love this time of year and always look forward to it. It rarely gets cold enough in my neck of the woods to wear coats, but I thought it might be fun to share some snapshots from some of  my previous winter looks. I love boots and of course this is the perfect time of year to wear them. What are your favorite things to wear in the winter?

My favorite part of this look is the shoes I was wearing. I love a classic pump and they will never go out of style. I love things that are timeless

I love tunics with leggings and boots. Do you?

I love capes and wraps and this is the only time of year you can get away with wearing them unless you live in a colder climate.

This is the perfect time of year to wear those over the knee boots

I love black, but I don't like looking like I am in a funeral procession, so I always balance it with a bold pop of color from my accessoriesI am known for wearing bold bright colors and when I looked at these photos, I noticed that recently I have worn a lot more black than I usually do.

I cannot believe this year is almost over!
