S & W Country Diner

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  A good breakfast, especially a good country breakfast keeps me energized and sometimes full for the whole day. My son and I recently checked out S & W Country Diner located in the heart of Culver City.  We were greeted by a long long line of folks waiting to be seated. A line of hungry folks outside of any establishment is usually a good sign because people don't wait in a long line for food that doesn't taste good.

So we waited and we waited and we waited. The wait was a good 30-45 minutes. And then finally they called our name and we rushed in like Jesus was serving the food.  The wait was worth it.  The coffee was hot, fragrant and delicious and the orange juice was refreshing.  And then the food came...

Waffles with warm syrup and butter, Light fluffy scrambled eggs, country potatoes with onions and bell peppers, perfectly seasoned turkey sausage, big ol mutant biscuits that make a normal one look like it needs to gain weight and crunchy country fried chicken with gravy. And if you are looking for an excuse to eat dessert masquerading as breakfast, try the Oreo pancakes. I looked enviously at the girl in the next booth devouring her pancakes laced with Oreos.

Hungry?

You better be if you come here for breakfast because they give you a lot of food and it is delicious!  It is not fancy and its not pretty, but damn if its not one of the best places to get a filling breakfast.  And the best part? You can get breakfast for around ten bucks or less, but don't even think about pulling out a credit card because it is cash only. So if you want to travel back to the good ol days and feel like you are in grandma's kitchen you know where to go:-)

This big biscuit was so good smothered with butter and jelly.  Big biscuit huh?

OMG, I didn't need to see this!! It's close to lunch and I am HONGRY!! I love a good down home grandma/mama cooked breakfast. Shoot I can't watch the scene in Color Purple when Ms. Celie cooks Shug breakfast on an empty stomach, reminds me of my mama/grandma cooking!! LOL!!! I don't eat that kind of breakfast often but when I do I want it to GOOD!!!! :-)
