A Spot of High Tea

I am a coffee lover non pareil, but this coffee lover also adores tea and I love love love high tea. It is always so fun to get dressed up and wear a big beautiful hat and munch on sandwiches without crusts, eat scones, drink tea and cucumber water and nibble on a wide array of sweet treats. It is great fun to attend a tea and even more fun to host one!
We had quite a ParTEA

My church had its first spring tea garden party and I thought a Breakfast at Tiffanys theme for my table would be fun, elegant, stylish and give me an excuse to spoil and pour into the group of ladies I had the honor of entertaining. I managed to get a few snapshots of my outfit, which is a variation of the little Black dress Audrey Hepburn made famous in Breakfast at Tiffanys. I wanted a bit of a vintage look with a modern flair, so Instead of a black dress, I wore a full black skirt, and a black top knotted at the waist with bold pops of aqua, mint green and teal. My hat was bold and a little over the top, but that's a part of the fun:-)

My friends got into the spirit of the theme by wearing black. We had a great time! There were a couple of no shows that said they were coming, but didn't show up and it disappointed me for a moment. I chose instead to focus on the lovely ladies that were there and not the ones who weren't. They missed out on a great time.
It was really fun to take some of my favorite elements of the movie and incorporate them into the tea. I hope you don't mind how picture heavy this post is, but I really wanted to share all the little details that make gatherings like this so memorable. I really enjoyed putting together all of these little treats for the ladies.
The bigger and the bolder the hat, the better! Right?

I pulled my hair back so that the hat could stand out
It is a coincidence that my nails match the decor of the tea. I have been loving this mint color and have been wearing it nonstop lately

I filled these beautiful Tiffany boxes with chocolates for my guests

This sign was the perfect way to welcome my guests:-)

I wanted everything to be elegant and girly, so I adorned this simple vase with swarosky crystals. Do you like it?

I put together these cute little parting gifts for my guests

And each guest got to enjoy a Tiffany box filled with sugary goodness
What more could a girl want?

I made these signs for the back of the chair and let each lady sit at the chair that best described her.

Firestarter, Phenomenal Woman and Sassy
The sun was so harsh when I was setting up, that this was the best shot I could get of the table

my cup runneth over

So elegant

So many different styles

And smiles and beautiful hats

These are the tea bag favors I made for my guests

 Tea Time!

My friend Eunice is the epitome of style and sophistication

The secrets these eyes can tell...

My beautiful fan is so much more than a fashion statement.  Hot flashes have become a very regular part of my life lately and if I have to fan myself all the time, I might as well look fabulous doing it. Right?

Lots of great food

 Fresh and delicious

Quiche

Fruit
Cranberry Feta Salad

My chicken salad croissants were a big hit

There plenty of teas including southern sweet tea and some very sweet punch

And a table of sweet treats

No tea is complete without scones

 and more scones
 And the elegant Madelines

 I just love these ladies

Don't you love Audrey Hepburn?.
Audrey Hepburn is one of my favorite style icons

Skirts like this are made for twirling and swooshing around:-)

 It was an amazing day!
