I have always loved french toast. My son loves it too. He woke up this morning sleepy eyed and wandered into the kitchen to the scent of cinnamon and vanilla floating through the air. His face lit up and he screamed: "French toast! French toast! He put one bite in his mouth and it was all over. This is some good stuff right here.
This french toast is so simple to make that is it unbelievable how delicious it is. Even unadorned it is quite flavorful, but a dose of maple syrup and it goes straight to first class. I think a shot of Bourbon in the batter adds a great flavor dimension, so keep that in mind when you make this. With french toast, the quality of bread is important, so use the thickest most delicious bread you can find and whip up a batch of this vanilla ice cream soaked french toast and take your taste buds for a ride:-)
Ingredients
Thick sliced bread (Brioche, Challah or any thick cut bread works perfect)
1 cup melted vanilla ice cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 eggs
Directions
Beat ice cream, vanilla, cinnamon and eggs until well blended. Dip bread in batter on both sides and fry in buttered skillet until golden brown on both sides.
Bon Appetit!
